Safeguarding Statement

Monks Orchard Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm, and that the child’s welfare is our paramount concern.

We believe that Monks Orchard Primary School should provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical and moral development of the individual child or young person.

We have a Safeguarding Policy in place which is shared with all staff and is available on the website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child or young person’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child or young person’s welfare.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr John Burke.  The Deputy Designated Lead is Mrs Sarah Burke.

If you are concerned about a child or young person’s welfare, please record your concern and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSL’s as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that she/he is unsuitable to work with children or young people) then you should report this directly to the Acting Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors, Mr Andy Philpotts, if the concern relates to the Headteacher) – who will consider what action to take.

Our Safeguarding Governor is Mr Bhavik Davda
